Macari, also spelled Makari, sits on the slope above the Gulf of Monte Cofano. Its appeal is the landscape: viewpoints, small coves and sunsets, with San Vito nearby for village services.
The viewpoint: stop in the right place
The view takes in the Isulidda coast and Monte Cofano. Visit during a transfer or in the late afternoon, using permitted stopping areas. The approach road is not a parking bay for taking photographs.
Bue Marino, Isulidda and Santa Margherita
Bue Marino is pebbly, Isulidda combines pebbles and rock, and Santa Margherita has a sandy shore. They are different places, not three names for one beach. Choose by water access, your equipment and whether you are travelling with children; individual profiles and maps are in the beach guide.
Where to stay and how to get around
Staying in the hamlet prioritises views and quiet over a beach on the doorstep. Check road gradients, the actual walking route to the sea and parking. A short map distance is not always an easy walk with bags or a pushchair.
An afternoon on the coast
Choose one cove for the afternoon, then head uphill for the gulf views. If wind or waves make swimming unappealing, enjoy the scenery without forcing a rocky descent. For dinner, choose between the hamlet and San Vito village.
