The beach meets the village: combine a swim with the Sanctuary, Via Savoia and the harbour without spending the day in a car. These stops introduce San Vito beyond its shoreline.
Piazza Santuario and the village centre
The fortress-like Sanctuary of San Vito Martire is the landmark of the centre. Start in the square, follow Via Savoia and explore side streets of low houses, courtyards and bougainvillea. Observe services and posted opening times when entering the church.
From the seafront to the harbour and lighthouse
The seafront is the easiest walk after a swim. Continue towards the harbour to see the boats and the shape of the bay. View the white lighthouse from outside; do not assume that a visit includes admission to its tower.
Tonnara del Secco and Monte Monaco
Choose one outing beyond the centre: the coast at Tonnara del Secco or a walk up Monte Monaco. The former evokes tuna-fishing history, but its abandoned buildings are not open to visitors. The latter is a proper hike requiring suitable footwear and a return plan.
An unhurried day
Spend the morning at the beach, have lunch in the village, rest through the hottest hours and walk to the harbour in the late afternoon. Before departure, luggage storage at Via Venza 5 can free up your final hours; agree collection time with the operator.
