Castelluzzo is the gateway to San Vito’s countryside: olive groves, village houses and land sloping towards Santa Margherita and the Gulf of Monte Cofano. Use it to combine the coast, walking and the inland landscape.
The village and olive oil
Olive groves distinguish Castelluzzo from San Vito’s urban beach. Ask local shops about origin, harvest year and tastings. Arrange farm visits directly: olive groves and mills are not all open to walk-in visitors.
The coast beyond Santa Margherita
Beyond Santa Margherita, the coast includes Calazza, Scaru Brucia, Scaru Zu Asparu and Agliareddi. Sand, pebbles and rocky platforms alternate. Pick a specific cove rather than searching for a generic “Castelluzzo beach”; the beach guide links to each location.
Towards Custonaci and Monte Cofano
Monte Cofano dominates the view. For a walk, identify the reserve entrance and an open route first. For a cultural day, head towards Custonaci and Scurati. Do not confuse the surrounding cycling park with trails inside the protected reserve.
Choosing a countryside base
Check whether accommodation is in the village, beside the main road or in the countryside near the coast: distances, noise and car needs differ. Alternate beach and inland days to avoid repeated daily journeys between San Vito, the hamlets and the shore.
