Zingaro combines trails, coves and rural heritage between San Vito Lo Capo and Scopello. Start planning by choosing an entrance and route, not just the beach you want to photograph.
North or south entrance?
From San Vito use the north entrance on the SP63; the south entrance is on the Scopello side. A coastal footpath, not an internal road, links them. A full crossing requires a return walk or transport arranged outside the reserve.
Choose the coastal or mid-level trail
The coastal trail is about 7 km between entrances; the manager gives roughly 2 hours one way without stops. The mid-level route also visits Borgo Cusenza; its description gives about 7.5 km and 3 hours. Swimming, museums and heat all extend the outing.
The coves have different names and approaches
The north side gives access to Tonnarella dell’Uzzo and the Uzzo area. Along the coast are Marinella, Berretta and Disa; Capreria is near the south entrance. Cala del Varo is reached from the sea. Use the beach guide for individual locations and access notes.
Tickets, water and visiting rules
Follow the manager’s current ticket instructions and check closing time and daily notices. Bring water and food for the full walk rather than planning a café stop inside. Closed shoes and an offline map are more useful than flip-flops; wells and troughs are not a reliable drinking-water supply.
A worthwhile shorter visit
With half a day, use one entrance, choose an accessible cove and return the same way. For a longer hike, dedicate the day to the reserve rather than adding distant stops. The trail map and entrance staff can help you choose a realistic plan.
