A useful itinerary leaves time to experience places. These three suggestions separate village, coast and reserves; combine them around your available days without rushing from stop to stop.
One day: San Vito on foot
Spend the morning at the beach, lunch in the centre and walk along Via Savoia and Piazza Santuario. Rest through the hottest hours; visit the harbour and view the lighthouse from outside later. Luggage storage at Via Venza 5 helps if you arrive before check-in or leave after check-out.
Two days: add Macari and Castelluzzo
Spend day two on the western coast. Choose Santa Margherita for sand, or Bue Marino and Isulidda for pebbles and rock. Stop at Macari’s viewpoint and consider a break in Castelluzzo. One enjoyable cove is better than four hurried stops and repeated parking.
Three days: choose one reserve
For day three choose Zingaro or Monte Cofano. In Zingaro, plan an entrance, trail section and cove stop. At Cofano, choose a side and an open route. Avoid trying to hike and swim in both reserves on the same day.
Beyond summer: an outdoor plan
When temperatures suit, devote a day to Monte Monaco, one to climbing if you practise the sport, and another to Custonaci by bike or on foot. Match choices to equipment, experience and conditions. Balance activity with village food: couscous, busiate and Caldo Freddo make stops of their own.
Change the plan with the weather
Strong wind and waves can change boat trips and swimming; intense heat makes trails harder. Keep a flexible day for the village, a cultural visit or food. Check notices before reserve visits and booked activities.
